Good Overall V-Bit for Hardwood and Not Bad for Plywood

I got this bit as it looked very similar to one that cadence manufacturing has made and was curious if the downcut nature of the v-bit would provide a much cleaner cut than the traditional upcut. I tested this with 1/2 in plywood and a piece of hard maple. Each carve took roughly 5 minutes to perform the feeds and speeds I used were the same as the feeds and speeds for the upcut 90 degree vbit of the same size. I believe it was 72 ipm feedrate 44 ipm step down speed, The stepdown was .1875 and the stepover was 6 percent I believe. When running the plywood everything was really smooth with no issues overall. There were still a few fibers leftover after the cuts, but less than I typically get with the upcut version. When cutting into the hard maple there was quite a bit of chatter at those feeds and speeds when going against the grain on the curves and when going deeper in the cut. When cutting with the grain it seemed to be much smoother. There may have also been a little bit of deflection because I did notice some ridges when the step downs occurred which can be seen in the pictures in the hard maple. They were less noticeable in the plywood. I think this could be attributed to me needing to fine tune the feeds and speeds though.

The reason I am deducting one star from my review is because it wasn't available in the carveco tool database so I had to create a new tool and configure my own feeds and speeds from the start. Also the ridges when stepping down were not ideal, but if I were to rerun the v-carve exactly the same, there is a good chance it would have cleaned all of that up. The bit was not hot after running for roughly 5 minutes back to back at those feeds and speeds so I am probably close at least.

Lastly, I appreciate that all of spetools bits come in a plastic case with a sticker that says which bit it is and which number it is as well, so when finding it in the tool database it is easy to identify.
