Precision 90 degree square and other angle cuts with any track saw. Easy to install and adjust.
SpeTool has created a highly accurate and functional miter gauge for track saws. It has precision stops for common angles.
I really appreciate how easily this attaches to track rails. I tried Makita and Festool tracks, and it fits perfectly. It inovative clamp doesn't scratch or mark the rails. It also stays out of the way of the top of the rails. I have other jigs like the router base that slide on the track saw rails, and other angle squares have a clamp on top that the router base will hit. This SpeTool keeps the whole angle square out of the way of other track accessories. Very clever design.
It is an instant and reliable attachment to the rails. It holds solid. There is a special lip on the gauge that keeps it level with the top of the wood being cut. This lip piece can be moved closer to the rail if narrow pieces are being cut.
The thickness is about 1". I normally use foam boards or bench cookies under the wood I cutting to allow for the blade to extend below the bottom surface of the wood. The depth of this gauge did not interfere with anything I cut.
Just a couple of minor issues:
It doesn't have a way to lock it in between the hole stops milled into it. I can't set an angle just a little larger or smaller than a preset one.
It also has an issue releasing the clamp from the rail when it's set to, say, 45 degrees. The angle stop gets in the way of the clamp handle so it will not loosen. This one isn't a big issue, but I did run into it.
Now on a decorative note, I love the orange anodized finish that SpeTool applies to their tools; it is my favorite. For me, it is calming and pleasant. I can see across my shop and not lose track of the tools.
This angle square is a little expensive, but it is perfectly square at 90 degrees. Then it has numerous other precise angles. It negates my need for a table saw and actually for using a miter saw in many situations. Carrying just this one angle square is about all I need.
