5-Position Z-Axis for Maximum Flexibility
Whether you are flattening a thick slab or working with thinner material, the five preset height settings (from 1.5" to 6") save time. They also reduce the need for constant adjustments. This makes it a solid choice for both one-off jobs and batch projects.

The sled features a slide-in router bracket, making it simple to mount and remove your router. It comes with two base plates.
One is pre-drilled to fit popular models like Porter Cable, Bosch, Makita, and DeWalt. The other is a blank plate for custom drilling. No matter your setup, this sled is ready to fit right in.

SpeTool S01002 Dust Collection Shroud
The SpeTool S01002 Dust Collection Shroud is specifically designed for the S01001 Router Sled, focusing on enhancing the cleanliness and safety of your workspace, particularly in managing wood dust's impact on health.
Key features:
Health Protection: Wood dust poses potential risks to respiratory health. This dust collection shroud features an efficient dust brush that captures 90% of wood particles, directing them into a dust collection system. This significantly reduces the inhalation of harmful particles, providing a cleaner, healthier working environment.
Equipment Compatibility: The shroud is equipped with an acrylic plate and a 2-1/2" dust port, compatible with most routers and standard dust collection systems, making it an ideal upgrade for your S01001 Router Sled.
Easy Installation and Use: Assembly takes just a few minutes, and the quick-release bolt design ensures easy and secure positioning.
Smooth Operation: The addition of tape at the connection point between the guide rail and the dust collection device minimizes friction during sliding, ensuring smooth operation of the router.
Sturdy and Lightweight: Constructed from aluminum, this shroud is both durable and lightweight, making it easy to handle. The inlaid frame and plate design ensures a tight seal, effectively preventing dust from escaping and keeping your workspace clean.
FAQ
The sled supports a maximum slab width of 48 inches (120 cm), with a working height adjustable between 1.5 inches and 6 inches. The slab length is technically unlimited, making it ideal for large live-edge projects.
The sled fits most standard-size routers. Pre-drilled holes on the base plate accommodate popular models like the DeWalt 618, Bosch 1617/1618, and Porter Cable 690/890. Some users with less common routers may need to drill additional mounting holes.
Most users report that assembly takes about 30 to 45 minutes. All necessary tools and a clear instruction manual are included, which makes it beginner-friendly.
The rails are made from anodized 6061 aluminum, offering high strength and resistance to flex or warping even after repeated use. The sled feels solid yet lightweight.
While not mandatory, it is highly recommended. When paired with SpeTool’s dust collection shroud (sold separately), users report up to 90% sawdust collection, which keeps your workspace cleaner and improves visibility during cutting.
The SpeTool sled offers a wider working width and a lower price point. While Woodpeckers uses heavier-duty steel components, SpeTool’s aluminum build offers a great balance of stability, portability, and cost-effectiveness.
Yes. The router carriage includes five preset height slots, allowing fast adjustments between 1.5” to 6”. This gives you precise control over the cutting depth and Z-axis clearance.
Absolutely. Reviews often mention its user-friendly design, intuitive assembly process, and straightforward operation, making it an excellent choice for hobbyists and weekend woodworkers.
For best results and to avoid overloading the router, it’s advised to take shallow passes of about 1/16” to 1/8” per cut. Multiple light passes ensure a smoother finish and safer operation.
Yes. Performing a test run on scrap wood helps verify your sled alignment, router setup, and cutting depth. It’s a key step in avoiding errors and preserving your valuable slab.
Sled is very well constructed and easy to assemble. Very sturdy allowing for precision.

Excellent sled for the money!
The quality of all the parts is excellent - the extruded aluminum rails are very strong! The instructions are a bit hazy so I used YouTube video to set it up in about 10 minutes (minus drilling a router plate). I was stunned at how easily the wheels allowed the sled to move! I would like to get a second pair of the clamps that hold the base to the rail as the torque of the router (2.5hp on lowest rpm) twists the base. I did not buy the dust collector, but I attached brush material to the rails and that seems to work pretty good when taking small 'bites' of material. I personally think this is the BEST VALUE on the market for slab flattening!

What a DIYer needs
This sled is the perfect solution for those of us with limited workshop space (and budgets) who want/need to work with larger pieces, like slabs. Setup instructions are not good (hince the 4 out of 5), but YouTube fixed that.

5.0 out of 5 stars SpeTool Router Sled
took about an hour to properly assemble and adjust to my table, but did exactly what I needed it to. high quality product that should last many years
Received the product on time. Packaging was perfect. Disappointed by no instructions included however there are very good Youtube videos online from individuals. Installation went well and first cuts proved great value. Installation will take no less than two hours for most. Strongly advise placing all screws and spring clips in a tray so you don't lose them!
