Yes. The 13-inch SpeTool spiral head is a direct drop-in for the DW735, DW735X, and the international DW735-XE. No shims or spacers are required, and the bearings come pre-installed.

Shop tests show a 6–8 dB drop at ear height—roughly a 45 % perceived noise reduction. You’ll still hear the motor and dust-collector, but the “hammering” knife sound is gone.

Only basic hand tools: 13 mm and 15 mm sockets, the two Torx wrenches included in the box, and a torque wrench for the pulley nut. No bearing press is needed because the bearings are already on the shaft. Most first-time users finish in under an hour using the video guide.

The helical head is slightly heavier than the OEM shaft but within the DW735’s design limits. Amp-draw and feed rate remain unchanged if you limit passes to ≈1/16″ on hardwood. Snipe usually stays the same; if you had minor snipe before, re-level the infeed/outfeed tables after the swap.

Each indexable insert has four cutting edges. On typical hardwoods one edge lasts 250–500 board-feet. Rotate 90° when dull. With four edges you can expect 1,000–2,000 board-feet before a complete insert change-out.

Periodically blow dust off the head with compressed air, wipe sap with mineral spirits, and lightly oil the steel surfaces to prevent rust. When rotating inserts, torque Torx screws to 45–50 in-lb and add a drop of food-grade anti-seize.
