Upgrade your planer. Elevate your finish. This precision-crafted cutterhead transforms your DeWalt DW735 into a quieter, cleaner, and smoother-cutting powerhouse. Designed with professional woodworkers in mind, it delivers unmatched performance right out of the box.
Key Features
4 Spiral Cutting Wings: With 56 precisely angled carbide inserts, this 4-row configuration slices wood cleanly for a glass-like finish—no tear-out, no chatter.
Anti-Rust Protection: Black oxide coating resists corrosion and resin buildup for long-term durability, even in humid shops.
Pre-Installed Bearings: No press required—just drop it in and go. Save 30 minutes of install time vs. generic heads.
Replaceable Carbide Inserts: Each cutter has 4 sharp edges. Rotate when dull, replace individually as needed.
Smaller Chips for Cleaner Dust Collection: Helical shearing action generates micro-shavings that evacuate more efficiently—keeping your shop air cleaner.
Ready for Any Wood Type: Tackle hardwoods like oak, hickory, and walnut, or softwoods like poplar and spruce with the same consistent quality.
Installation Tips
Ensure each insert is aligned with the bevel facing correctly. Follow the illustrated diagram above to avoid chip-out or uneven planing.

The process was fairly easy, and the thing works as hoped for immediately. I don't have any lines or anything straight away, didn't even have to adjust anything (though was was careful to thoroughly tighten and verify the cutters were seated properly as I initially installed them). The sound volume reduction is honestly impressive, I did not buy it for that reason but the difference is huge - the straight blades absolutely SCREAM compared to this. Of course you should always wear ear protection, but it goes from "my neighbors are angry" to only really needing EP if you're actively working next to it. The finish is great too. I once saw it mentioned that upgrading to helical would keep your machine on the edge of popping it's circuit breaker (due to the constant contact/resistance of the helical cutters, versus a straight blade that contacts, then doesn't, then does again, repeating) but I have not had any circuits trip either on the machine or from the wall - granted I do finish cuts always, never fast, and I never go more than 1/16th per pass, so I'm not pushing it as hard as you possibly could. My only complaint is the blades themselves could be sharper (were not able to pass the arm hair shave test like a fresh set of dewalt blades are) so the machine is working harder than it would otherwise be. Be aware, it requires an unusually large socket (24mm) to get the main nut off, and it also requires a pair of snap ring pliers to complete the task. I suggest you watch the installation video all the way through before beginning so you make sure you have what you need and don't have to stop and visit Lowe's Depot half way through like I did haha

Should have done this sooner!
I have been dragging my feet for about a year to do this upgrade to my plainer. The cost for this cutterhead came down enough to spend the money, because I was needing to buy new knives and for a couple hundred dollars and a couple hours of work it made sense.
The installation went well, the most time consuming work was installing the inserts.
As you can see by my picture all the tools and replacement cutters fit in the tool tray inside the Dewalt 735.
Time to make some more dust!

Well made helical cutter head
The cutter head comes nicely packaged, with each little cutter blade in its own slot in the plastic containers. Also helpfully comesd with a tool and bit for installing the cutters. It is heavy and solid and has very high quality feel. I did have an issue in that one of the holes for the screws whcih hold the cuters was improperly threaded. Coudl nto get it to go in flush after much effort. That was frustrating. But I wrote to their customer service email address and within 48 hours they had responded and they already had a replacement head on the way. INstallation was a bit tricky -- at least for me -- and make sure to review teh whole video before doing anything, as I installed all of the cutters and then had to remove them to get the tool in. But all in all, very happy with it so far. Workds great and produces smooth wood requiring littel sanding.

This is an excellent upgrade
I was talking myself out of upgrade to helical head for almost a year. I chose spetool as I have used their router bits that are excellent so I knew they knew how to work with carbide. Omg ,,, the noice reduction is worth the upgrade by itself. I can hear myself without the noise protection . I ran some cherry boards and they look like 180-220 grit finish already. Long term use needs to be seen but I am very impressed right now

I’m building a guitar and needed a good sharp bit for routing various jobs on this guitar and this did not fail! Impressively sharp and precise, works like a charm
I use this tool for drilling leg holes in chair seats since I always had trouble being consistent four times! I helps quite a bit but I noticed that the hex connection does fit on my Bosch hex drivers, it is slightly larger (measures about 0.26" across the flats).
I needed a bit to trim PVC Boards, and they needed to be square, because I used glue to hold them together - no nails or screws allowed as I'm using the PVC boards in a freezer.
This router bit performed amazingly! The SpeTool company shipped the router bit quickly and I finished the project. I will be back to look at other tools and accessories they offer.
