Make Your Work Easier!

๐Ÿ” You will need a **template** for whatever shape you want to inlay โ€“ thatโ€™s what the router follows. Many woodworkers either buy ready-made templates (like letters, numbers, butterfly/bowtie shapes, decorative patterns) or create their own. Templates can be made of thin plywood, acrylic, or even hardboard, as long as they have a clean cut-out of the shape. The key is that the template opening accommodates the guide bushing. If youโ€™re making your own, youโ€™d typically use a jig saw, scroll saw, or laser/CNC to cut the shape out. One nice thing: because the kitโ€™s collar creates the offset automatically, you donโ€™t have to compensate in your template โ€“ just make the template the exact size of the desired inlay. So yes, you do need templates, but they can be purchased or homemade. The kit doesnโ€™t include specific templates since everyone might want different designs, but once you have the kit you can do infinite shapes by swapping out templates.
