How deep can I cut with the bits in this inlay kit?

🔍 The kit’s carbide bits (1/8\" and 1/4\" spiral up-cuts) have a cutting length around 1/2\" to 3/4\". Typically, you do not need to cut super deep for inlays – most decorative inlays are about 1/8\" to 1/4\" thick. If you’re doing a bowtie to stabilize a crack, you might go 1/2\" deep for strength. These bits can handle that depth in multiple passes. For example, you could plunge about 1/8\" deep per pass until you reach your desired depth. It’s generally not necessary to exceed 1/2\" depth for an inlay, and if you did need to, you’d probably switch to a longer bit. In summary, the included bits comfortably cover the common inlay depths (0.125\" – 0.5\" range). If you needed a deeper mortise, you could always use the 1/4\" bit without the collar as a normal router bit to deepen it, but for most scenarios the standard depth capacity is more than enough.
