Frequently Asked Questions

A helical bit that lifts chips upward, ideal for deep plunges and fast chip evacuation.

Use up-cut for deep pockets and efficient chip removal; choose down-cut when you need a splinter-free top face.

Some top-side splintering can occur; minimize it with a backer board or shallow first pass.

Excessive RPM or slow feed causes heat; sharpen or clean the bit and speed up the feed.

Clear chips with strong dust extraction or pause to vacuum; up-cut flutes already help eject debris.

Compression bits give splinter-free faces on both sides; up-cut is faster but may fray the top veneer.

Extra flutes can improve finish but require slower feed per tooth; 2-flute is a good all-round choice.

Too-deep cuts or slow chip evacuation overheat the small shank—use shallower passes and higher feed.

They’re fine if feed direction is correct and stock is clamped; expect more chip spray than in a table.

Use sharp bits, minimize tool overhang, and match feed to RPM to keep chip load steady.

Great bit

I bought this bit to deal with big end grain cutting board that is 2.25" thick. Overall, the results were great! Looking forward to buy more bits now!

SpeTool W04022

This is the second one I've ordered (this one is a spare, the first one has been going strong for a year!). It is an excellent endmill for being able to cut profiles through thicker material. A fantastic purchase!
