Overview

Downcut spiral tools are best used for thinner materials that will be pushed down into the machine bed rather than being lifted with an upcut spiral. This can be particularly useful when using vacuum hold down were maintaining the seal between the material and sacrificial bed is crucial. These tools are predominantly used when a high-quality cut finish is required on the top surface of cut parts.

Specially designed to provide an excellent finish. It can be used with handheld, table-mounted, and CNC routers.

The SPE-X new design coating could provide up to 2.5X normal life and a much more smooth cutting edge than others.

Designed for cutting the following materials

  • MDF/HDF
  • Foam Board
  • Hardwood
  • Plastic

Quickly became my favorite bit in my Shaper Origin!

I like to cut signs (and intricate pieces of signs) with my Shaper Origin, and this bit can get into sharp corners much more effectively than other bits (like the 1/8th or 1/4 inch).
Ive started working with 2.7mm plywood, and this bit can easily cut it in one pass, and as its a down cut bit, it seems to minimize the sanding needed on the top edge (which is a big deal for me).
The bit is a little pricey, but this far Id say Worth every penny!

Great 1/16 bit!

I have used this to make many signs in pine and fir. It works perfectlly when using oramask as it doesn't leave frizzies or lift the oramask. I am very happy with the sharpness and longevity of this bit.
