Overview

SpeTool W02011 is engineered for flawless cuts in challenging sheet goods and solid timber. Its dual-spiral compression design shears downward on top veneers and upward below, locking fibers toward the core to eliminate splinters on both faces. Precision-ground from micro-grain carbide and fortified with high-durability SPE-X coating, the cutter maintains sharpness under aggressive feeds, even on production CNCs. The standard ¼″ shank drops into trim, plunge or table routers, while the extra-long 3″ overall length clears tall fixtures when slotting, mortising or pattern routing. Upgrade to W02011 and enjoy cleaner edges, cooler chips and fewer bit changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

¼″ cutting & shank diameter, 1 ¼″ cutting length, 3″ overall length, two flutes, solid-carbide body.

Up-cut flutes at the tip lift chips, while down-cut flutes near the shank press fibers down, leaving both faces splinter-free on plywood and laminates.

Users report good results at ≤0.125″ depth and 100 IPM, but caution that long bits exert extra leverage—secure work-holding is essential.

Community tests run 100 IPM at 18 000 RPM with light passes; adjust to keep chips (not dust) ejecting.

Stay under half the bit diameter (~0.12″) or plunge beyond 3⁄16″ so both up- and down-cut zones engage for a clean edge.

SpeTool’s SPE-X coat resists heat and oxidation, extending edge life up to 2.5 × longer than uncoated carbide.

Reviewers report “crazy sharp, cuts like butter” and “excellent finish on top and bottom,” confirming minimal tear-out.

341 global reviews average 4.6/5 ★; owners praise sharp edges, noting longevity matches pricier brands when used with proper feeds.

Yes—just use shallow passes to control torque and keep the base flat on the jig.

SpeTool lists a 365-day warranty on its store and Amazon provides a 30-day no-question return.

Compression bit works for single bit cutting

I needed to cut out a lot of pieces from 1/2" plywood. To get the least tear out, you normally have to use a down cut bit for the top surface, and then finish with an up cut bit for the bottom. Changing bits is very time consuming, so I thought I would try a compression bit to get the best of both worlds with one bit. While it is not as good as the two bit system it is quite acceptable for my project.

Great tool for the price

I used this for use on cherry wood and it left perfect edges which didn’t require much sanding at all.
